I met a guy who built his tree business around hiring excons for exactly the reason you described. He mentors and gives them an honest job at market pay. They generally walk out the gate with every possible disadvantage.

Compelling. Life isn't guaranteed and a man cannot control when his time comes. He can only control how he meets that end. Stone died a free man and met his end as good as any king.
